Default Drivers door actuator

The drivers door actuator is not working. Can this be replaced with another actuator from any other DII or are they set-up or programmed for the original rover?

Any DII actuator will work. The programming is on the BCM not the actuator itself.

OR, you can take it apart and buy a cheap motor from Radio Shack to replace the one in that actuator. There's a thread on this around here somewhere.

You can replace it yourself.
I did it.

Not easy - but you can.
Secret is to move around the window pillar and wedge the acuator around it to get it into place.

Also you need to assure the key lock from the driver's door rod is in the top of the latch.

On line I paid about $170 for the mechanism.

Awesome advice, I tested one I had on my DII by plugging it into the wire harness and did not get any response...maybe that one was bad too. This drivers door one is a PITA to work on..especially getting the levers in place etc...other doors seem easier..
Thanks
