Just put new u-joints and the centering ball in the one you have. Or better yet, pay someone. Maybe it will come apart easier since it's so new....

You could rebuild it with greaseable u joints. Or you can buy a whole new driveshaft with the zerks already in place. Now some guys rebuild and some just buy the whole assembly. There are alot of threads as to the parts you need to rebuild. I got the kit from toddco suspensions and rebuilt it myself.. Or use the forums search function.

malibutj, have you ever re-built a driveshaft before? If not, I'm agreeing with jafir on this one...unless you have a real hunger for punishment, buy 3 new greaseable u-joints, a centering ball kit and call your local driveline shop. They repair/replace drivelines all day long and have the correct tools (blow-torches and what-not) to remove the "bitch" they call a centering ball. Total with parts and labor, $200-$250 tops.

BTW, $800, LOL. If you are writing about buying a new one directly from LR, don't bother, the double cardon will still be ungreaseable.

Yes it does. The kit works. Did it myself. Will never do it again. And it takes a lot for a mechanic to say that.

You should be able to get all the parts for about $50-80 bucks and then you can take it to a shop and they'll likely rebuild and balance it for about $150. Well worth the trouble and peace of mind.

However I'd say your current drive shaft has probably got another 10,000-20,000 miles. But I would seriously seriously not test that because so many things can go wrong on these trucks. Just eliminate it all together and take care of it when you can.

Do you mean this one? Discovery II front driveshaft repair kit

If so, then yes and no; yes, a centering ball kit is needed. No, because this offer does not provide the 3 greaseable u-joints you will need.
