Driveshaft Upgrade
I had to replace the flex coupling on my 96 Disco about a year and half ago, and recently it has failed again (why so soon?) - due to some nasty wear, opted to get and entire upgrade kit. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience in installing one of these. I'm away from my home so I am having my family send my tools down to do the work, and I want to be sure I have everything needed. I am searching to find what socket sizes I'm going to need. Any help on socket sizes I could possibly need, and any pointers on doing the install itself would be great. Thanks in advance! -Justin

Look closely at the picture. Do you see the damage to the flange coupler? -- Bottom line is that you have more going on here than just another flex-coupling failure. STC 3723 is the part number for the flange kit. I have it for $60.00. TVF 100010 is the number for the flex joint. Ihave it for $102.00.
You must replace these parts together to avoid another premature failure of the flex joint. Also -- the front u-joint on the driveshaft needs to be checked out.

oops.... I forgot to mention that you also have a damaged and bent driveshaft here. Do you have a lift kit fitted to this vehicle?

Normally if you stay away from the aftermarket rotoflexs you can get 80,000 to 100,000 miles out of them. As Geoman has mentioned, looks like you have damage beyound just the roto flex.

Well the kit I have coming replaces the entirety of the driveshaft, u-joints, flanges, etc - so hopefully this will not be a recurring problem after I install it. I guess I should have known things were not right after I saw small cracks develop after only about six months. No, this vehicle does not have a lift - it's 100% stock. Just checked our your site Geoman, I'll be back there in the future I'm certain. Thank you for the replies! Has anyone installed one of these driveshaft kits? It should be here tomorrow or the next day, and I want to be prepared for all possibilities so I don't get it half way apart and find that I don't have everything I need. Is there any bolts where the flange at the rear goes into the differential, or does it just push into the splines, held there by the driveshaft? Thank's again! -Justin
