Default Drivetrain Whine/Groan Under Power and Cruising

I recently acquired a 2000 Disco with 112k on the clock and it makes a groan/whine while accelerating and maintaining speeds above 35mph. It doesn't vibrate or anything, and the noise will go away when I let off the gas, but will return slightly when braking. I've posted a video, let me know what you all think. Thanks in advance!

One place to check may be the transfer case. Many owners have reported reduced noise when replacing T/C fluid with 85W140 (and some say synthetic makes it even quieter), as well as front and rear diffs.

You nearly read my mind. I was thinking it was the T-case. I'll get on changing the fluid. Hopefully that makes a difference. Thanks!

I 'think' my drivetrain seems quieter now that I replaced the fluid in my diff's & transfer case with RP 85w-140. I also did the first of two tranny fluid changes.

The noise in mine is pretty loud, it would inhibit a conversation. The video does not do it justice unfortunately. The 03 Disco is very quiet, so idk if a fluid change will help... but I have the fluid and pump lying around, so why not try. The 2000 Disco sounds like a Jet engine getting ready to start lol.

Believe it or not, over-filling can make them noisier. You just want to fill until there's a little trickle. Also make sure the breather is not plugged as a plugged breather will cause a lot of extra noise. If all else fails Motul makes a high Moly reinforced gear oil that may quiet it, I think they may even market it as for noisy gearboxes.

Everyone is doing about 60mph on that road, you have to hit 3k to get up to speed lest you risk getting rear-ended .

Replaced the fluid in both diffs and the t-case with synthetic 75w-140. Still makes a crap ton of noise. Wish I hadn't spent the 70bucks for the fluid... Any other ideas?
