Default Dual oil pressure/water temp gauge

Anyone ever use one of these on a Disco 2?

Dual Gauge, Water Temp / Oil Pressure, Smiths, Black (SEL0045) - Classic Mini

Mechanical, but I'm thinking of bringing the oil into the cabin and to the gauge with the optional steel braided line.

As for the water temp capillary, thinking of using an in-line temp gauge fitting in the upper radiator hose.

Thoughts?

I would suggest using electronic gauges, so that you are not bringing hot oil, gas or water into the passenger compartment. jmho

I know...

I'm torn. Had these gauges back on some late '60s MGs in the early '80s - always thought they were pretty cool...

I've used them, and like them, just never used one in a Disco, though I have bought one to install in my '95.
There's no reason to be concerned about the oil line coming in to the passenger compartment. Even disconnected it doesn't spray oil, it's a very small ID tube.
Mechanical water temp gauges don't feed water to the gauge.

Check with Nisonger Instruments, they are the US Smiths factory warranty center and, I believe, still sell new gauges. I was a Nisonger dealer years ago when I lived in VT, they were good to deal with.

Default Oil pressure

If you want, I have amassed all the parts to install a glowshift gauge, the electronic one.
The gauge, fuses, wire, add-a-fuses, threaded insert for engine, shrink tubing, the whole nine yards.

I was going to install it have changed my mind. It about $100 of parts, would sell the same.

Let me know if there is any interest.

Thanks for the Nisonger Instruments info.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to go with the dual gauge set up mounted below the coin tray - to the right of my right knee when seated.

I already have a cheap SunPro mechanical oil gauge plumbed up and zip-tied under the hood. I plan on running a steel braided line into the cabin for the new dual gauge.

As for the water temp sensor, I'm not 100% sure where to stick it. I'd like to use the existing stock water temp gauge (not ECU) threaded hole. Just not sure the threads will be compatible. Short of this, I may use an in-line radiator hose fitting with a threaded hole - as in the image below (borrowed from another post/member). If I end up going with the in-line fitting, I may put it in front of the "T" - the hose that returns coolant to the radiator (not to the left of the "T" as in the pic). Make sense?

Nisonger has adapters for the water temp fitting. Or at least used to.
