Default Finally Installed an Oil Pressure and Oil Temp Gauge

After procrastinating I finally installed an oil pressure and oil temp gauge I had laying around. I wasn't sure if I would but I like the digital gauges and will end up mounting the pod under the climate control pod, it fits up their quite nice. I may spray paint it tan first though. I still have to hook up the gauges to the headlamp switch so they dim when the headlights are turned on.

Oh yeah completely warmed up I get 25 psi at idle so no worries here.

Looks nice! One question, why would you want to know the oil temp? Why not the coolant temp?

To me oil temp is more interesting as there is a correlation between oil temp and pressure (temp goes up, oil thins and pressure goes down). Also I can get the coolant temp from say a scangauge which I plan on getting soon.

I agree with you 100%.
Over the road trucks have oil temp gauges as well as diff temp and trans temp gauges too.

Have you gotten a base line on the oil temp yet?

I have not gotten it above 130(ish)F but have not driven over 10 miles yet either.

If you are up for a experiment keep track of the oil temp for a week.
Switch to regular grade gas for 2 tanks and see if there is a change in oil temps under similar driving conditions.
