cut inner fender to access crankshaft position sensor

so, how did the seal up go? just rivet a piece back on? any pics of reassemble?

Bet you did that for your starter on the other side as well. Got a pix of the repaired inner fender?

For now I just bent the fender piece back down. It's hardly noticeable except for the cuts on each side. Later I plan to use use secure it with screws. No rivets, I want to be able to access it again.

....... So you cut up your truck to avoid doing a simple 20-minute-ish job the traditional way?

I have not had to replace starter. For now I just bent the piece back down.

I have been working on my own vehicles for 20 years now. If you can replace a DII CPS in 20 minutes you are a better mechanic than I am.

I've changed mine 3x now - the last time took me 35 mins. It's definitely a job that gets easier doing it the second... then the third time. I do admit though, cutting this access isn't such a bad idea. It's adding another spot for salt/rust in New England, but that spot is the least of my worry.
