Default easy way to tell you have cdl?

Basically.. Any way to tell without tearing the console apart to look at top or removing the actual tc?

for those who are in the grey area manufacture date, like me.

you can reach the CDL post on the top of the transfer case from underneath the truck. no need to tear anything apart. just do it when your truck is cool because your arm has to be very close if not touching the exhaust to reach up there. its right above those beautiful new u joints you put on your front drive shaft.

Yep it is shiny indeed. Also changed the rear shaft this morning because i got a hell of a deal on a new one. So 2 shiny ones now for a symmetrical look. If only getting those ball joints on the knuckles was as easy... 3 hrs labor per side is what they want. ARG!

I'll go "probe" it. I see what i need to be feeling for now.

If I remember correctly the CDL is indicated on the small sticker in front of the transfer case shifter. It and actually specifies differentional lock wording vs. a non CDL truck indicates only High and Low. Since I have an 03' with no CDL and an 04' with I actually have seen this.

Only D1's and 04 D2's have that pretty little sticker, but D2's from 99 through some point in '02 also were fitted with CDL, just no sticker or way to engage it without adding a lever or manually from under the truck with a wrench.

Do you know when in 01 LR stopped putting the "nipple" on the transfer cases?

I took my iPhone and climbed under. Stuck the phone up in the general area and turned the video on. Pulled the phone out and saw the little nipple part on top of the t case. She worked like a charm when I clicked it over.
