Just bought my 96 Discovery with a busted ebrake. It is stuck in the down "off" position thank god, but I cannot pull it up. The button pushes in but the handle is stuck there. PO said that he pulled it up one day fine, and when he went to put it down it had alot of resistance but he got it in the down position after some forcing. Now its stuck. I don't want to drive with the ebrake on, but I dont have any dash lights on except for ABS. I only drove it for about 3 miles since I've owned it and it didn't smell like the ebrake was on, I got it to about 50 mph.

Any experience with this??

Sounds like the cable is froze.

 

Is it a pretty easy fix?
