Egg timer sound

I occasionaly have this sound like a running egg timer which seems to come from the dash. Any ideas?

Could it be gunk in the cabin temperature sensor fan? It's behind a small grille to the left of the steering column, at the lower edge.

My purge valve is making a ticking type sound and I can hear it in the truck. Pop your hood and see if it's that.
