electric fans....anyone running these, particular ones?
I just got back from 700 miles in my Disco (no overheats, even at 85 on the Austin tollway... yeah that's the speed limit!!!) and crawling around Austin and San Antonio in the blazing heat with the mechanical fan. High temp was 203 and in city driving it stayed around 193 with an ambient temp (per dash) of 101-103. I'll chop up that shroud and give it a try on my little circuit then report the results before my new radiator arrives.
EDIT: New radiator arrived. I'll chop up the electric fan shroud and do a run with the electric fan before I put the new radiator on, for the sake of SCIENCE.

Science be damned.
I cut the openings.

Then this flew into me. A bad sign.

Then when wiring it back up, before connecting the battery, I found this.

Experiment over. Took it all back out. Maybe I got a bad one. Maybe I just have bad luck. Maybe God doesn't approve of electric fans on my Rover. Anyway, I'm done with it.

Agreed. Then the Racoons in my garage ate both my bat and the fruit I left for the bat to recover.
All because of the fan...
All because of the fan...

Not trying to shoot you out of the saddle, but I had offered to purchase on earlier post.
I'm so upside down on the fan over such a short period and the fan is such a BEAST I'm going to think about anything else I can do with it but if I come up blank I'll let it go for postage and a warning that if you use it you will probably end up being responsible for the death of a bat.
