Electric Water Pump Conversion?
I talked with my friend today and he said that he has had good success with these electric water pumps on small block Chevys for hot rods/etc.. He said that it would be best to replace the entire stock pump and fan setup with something like the Davies Craig. He mentioned that the total parasitic belt drag from the pump/fan combo was up to 10% of total engine power and that some of that could be recovered by switching to electric (big plus, more fuel econ). He also mentioned that if I wanted to run it as a booster, then it should probably be after the expansion tank Y pipe and close to (or right before) the factory pump.
I don't know if I want to do all full electric swap at this point, but the allure of better fuel economy and more power is convincing. I'm thinking right now more toward the auxiliary pump right before the factory with the expansion tank/etc. feeding in right before the inlet of the aux pump.
This seems to be the best deal right now; you get the whole setup for $375. But I don't know if the 115 will do it all if I wanted to switch to full electric down the road. I guess I could run the switch as well, but I like the idea of having the fan controller in the same place.

I still have a reservoir bottle near drivers headlight. Filled to half it allows overflow and fluid return
Ahh, it was hiding. That makes much more sense now. That would work really well.
