I bought my truck at 16, so I'm on the same page with you here. I can only do the basics on my truck, but in 4 years I have learned a lot. That being said, I personally would never take on head gaskets because that's a job I want done 100% right. I wouldn't trust myself to do that... But if you're adventurous, go for it!

Also, I'm assuming you went to Land Rover Columbia... They are connected with my local dealer here in Asheville and one other in SC; that whole trio of of dealerships is sketchy and notorious for ripping people off. I was quoted over $2000 to fix a Crank position censor and replace couple of belts. Thanks GOD I found my indy mech who did the whole job for $300. He was almost as pissed as me that they were going charge that much. Knew nothing about cars at the time, so they tried to take me for a ride.

Again, not LR specific but it says they have expanded their services to LR. Worth a call as well.

Might be a really small LR shop in Columbia (usually there is near dealers...) so maybe someone closer will chime in.
