Engine bay explosion, oil, coolant, the works
On the mountain driving topic... while I won't spin mine to 4,500 rpms on the highway, I do go to 4,000. I stick to the right lanes and try to maintain 55 mph when on the highways in the Colorado mountains. Mine's a 5-speed, and I find I have to drop from 4th to 3rd to get the rpms up enough (up to 4,000) to get the speed back up to not be the slowest vehicle on the road, then go back to 4th for as long as I can. My rig is way overweight and almost re-geared to stock (it's a touch under what is needed, so that doesn't help), so it's a struggle. Having a dizzy motor is a help, as I have the base timing bumped up to help with the power loss and find that I'm not downshifting as much as I did with the base timing set to stock.
So is this fan better for some reason than a sick replacement? Does it bolt right on to the clutch?
Here's the fan and fan clutch Best4x4 reccomends.
Several of us have his mods, as he's done all the leg work for us, and they work great.
I think I paid $60 for both(bought seperately, do not come together, and you'll need 4 nuts or bolts from a hardware store).
Is there a link or part numbers? Sorry for my ignorance!
Cool. That's the clutch I already have so I'll grab that fan and hope it doesn't blow up.
