Use only the pressure wash, no soap and anything under the hood of a D2 is fair game, be it the alternator, coil packs or fuse blocks.
I do mine, as you can see by my picture, once a month and there is 100,000 plus on that engine without one start issue.
Make sure to tighten the 2 v/c bolts before you scrub the engine.

In the pic your valve covers look black. Are they painted black?

Nope, that is how they came out on the early D2's.

I thought so...

And because i like that look I painted mine over the weekend while I was replacing the valve cover gaskets and valley pan gasket ... but mine look more grey in this pic...haha
