In this cold, it is normal for the engine to be noisier until temps rise a little and the oil has circulated.
Agreed... My engine ticks that bad when it's cold. Maybe the audio was really masked, but I think mine can be that loud in the cab.

is the check engine light on?

has anyone given you a reading of the engine computer codes if that light is on?

The engine light has been on since day 1. The land rover dealer did a check and said it was because of the gas cap.

Not if it overheats after a few miles...

From what I've read and that new video OT sounds more like a blown head gasket. Would you describe the sound more like a chuffing?

If you can get your truck to a autoparts shop they usually read codes for free. Then post TJ codes here and we can tell you what they mean. Having the codes would go a long way to helping us diagnose your truck.

I let it run about 5 min.
For what it's worth, mine makes that exact sound after its warm. From the reading I've done, it could be several things, including a slipped liner. I've been driving it that way for a year. I would start it and see if you hear it when it's cold. If you don't hear it, and it gets worse once it warms up, then a slipped liner might be the issue. It might be hard to do now since it's so cold because you might get other ticks just by virtue of it being cold. But it might give you another clue about what's going on. The ultraguage was the best $60 bucks I've spent because now I can see the actual temperature rather than rely on the sketchy stock temp gauge.

Were you able to get it to another mechanic yesterday?
