V8 Developments - Camshaft Timing

Essentially, we have fitted top hat liners to many hundreds of blocks over the past years and, touch wood, we have never had one fail yet! The fitting procedure is very precise, the blocks are bored to remove the old liners and any imperfections are repaired. The blocks are then heated, the new liners cooled in liquid nitrogen and the two mated. The fitted block is then allowed to cool naturally for a number of hours before the machining processes are carried out to create a finished bore. The liners can be bored to any size from 94mm to 97mm and this allows for a variety of engine configurations to be used.

contact abran. He has some great contacts on the west coast that can have it all worked up and have top hat liners put in properly. These are old style engines with die's that were well past there lively hood. There are over seas vendors and even local vendors that can do it but it has to be done properly

Looks like our engine will be delivered tomorrow. We ordered a lot of new parts today, and we're going to begin assembly this weekend. Hopefully everything goes smoothly/

Thanks for the advice and sorry to sidetrack you're original thread OP.

I spoke with the folks at Q&E out in California. They said that as long as the damage wasn't massive, the crack behind the sleeve shouldn't be a problem. They will repair it, then perform the resleeving operation with the top hat liners and o-rings for $1.5k.

They suggested sending the pistons as well to make sure borings were accurate to my application.

you must be a tad excited. Hell, it's not even my engine, I don't know you...and I'm excited about it-ridiculous. Post lots of pics. Have fun this weekend.

It's going to be like Christmas. The engine is just sitting there waiting to be unwrapped, and it's killing me. We also have a ton of new parts on the way, and couple more items that need to be purchased still.

Over the weekend we were able to move the Rover, and new engine to the shop. The real work begins on Friday when we start working on the engine removal.

Man I hope so. We're still waiting on a lot of engine parts to come in, but it should be here by the weekend. I'll be sure to post pictures of the process as we get moving.

Have put a Turner 4.6 in my '03 recently. We are in mid process of a big build and I can't wait to get it complete. Engine went in nice and no issues with it. Once we are a bit further along in the build I'll put up some pics and details.
