im sure if you PM mike he would return your mail.

but the first thing he will tell you is clean your engine, change your oil and filter and find your coolant leak or words to that effect.

you're noise is not an oil pressure problem, still doesn't mean the ring hasn't cracked.

you don't have a tick you have a wrap.
well; the top end does have a tick the there is a lower end wrap.

what year & who many miles?
what happens to the noise if you increase the rpm?
does it increase in sync / or does it drop off as rpms increase?

you can PM mike by clicking on any of his old links.

I would run 15-40 Rotela or 20-50, 10 weight is way to thin for these engines.
I ran 10-40 for about two hour once the engine sounded like someone threw a handfuls of marbles into it.

Welcome to loosesleeveville. Pull it outside and spray the sides of the engine with a hose from the bottom. If the noise goes away its a sleeve.

I'm working on a fix for the sleeves moving. Cooling the block off shrinks the block so it grabs the sleeve tighter.

Sounds like a liner (or sleeve). Sometimes just swapping to a 180 degree thermostat stops it for a while but pinning the sleeves has worked for some as well.

I had a noise like that also. Wound up being a blown head gasket. Found it by running my hand (when cold and first starting up) along where head meets block and could feel the blow by behind the exhaust manifold.
