Default Engine Sputter - SES light, have codes

I recently replaced my water pump. While I had the fan clutch and the other components off, I decided to power wash the lower part of my engine.

When I went to take her for a test drive, I found the engine running rough and the SES light on.

I pulled the codes and P1590 & P0307 came up. Also, the SES light will periodically flash.

The truck has been off the road, I'm hesitant to drive it until I get an idea what's wrong.

I havent pulled the plugs to check their condition. I havent had the truck that long and I havent really done anything to it besides the water pump and thermostat.

Where should I start fellas? If you need more info, please ask.

TIA,
Steve

Thanks guys. I just drove it down the street and back.

In addition to what I reported, the engine runs rough enough to shake the truck. I also heard that distinct "waterfall behind the dashboard" sound. I'm going to do a search on that now.

Safe bet to start with plugs?

The waterfall behind the dash is air passing through the in/out hoses to the valve for the heater core. You need to fully bleed the system of air, which may have been introduced during the WP work.

If it ain't air, it will probably be combustion gas in coolant, welcome to head gasket hell. There is a $50 test from auto parts store that will detect and confirm this.

Removing the plugs is a good step for both. Plugs being steam cleaned by leaky HG are much cleaner than normal. Water in cylinder certainly makes things rough. Any white smoke from exhaust?

Water in boots of plug wiring, coils, etc., will also cause problems.

(heading down to see if there's any white smoke)

No smoke whatsoever from my exhaust pipe - didn't think so, but I wanted to check to be sure.

When I was power washing the engine, I tried to stay below the plugs, but I'm sure that I could've gotten water into one of the boots. Wouldn't it have dried by now, or do those things have a tendency to capture and retain moisture?

I'll pull the plugs in the AM, see what I find. Let's hope it's not the HG - I don't have time for that, right now
