Engine Stalls, sometimes starts
I believe my fuel pump is bad, the gauge reads about a quarter more full than it actually is sometimes.
it took many several tries to get it to start, cranks well, sounds mostly like no fuel to me.
Yesterday it stalled on the road, would not restart. Then when the tow truck shows up, of course it starts. We towed it w the engine on, and it stalled 10 minutes later when we took it off the truck. It would not start again.
This morning it started right up. I swapped the relay w the windshield wiper relay, fuses are good. I do not have any codes, RAVE says the below should be thrown if it is a fuel pump problem.
P Code J2012 Description Land Rover Description
P1230 Fuel pump relay malfunction Fuel pump relay open circuit - not the fuel pump
P1231 Fuel pump relay circuit low Fuel pump relay short circuit to battery supply - not the
fuel pump
P1232 Fuel pump relay circuit high Fuel pump relay short circuit to earth - not the fuel pump
Given this is an intermitteent problem, how would I know if replacing the pump has fixed it? I have some fuel pressure, but that may not be the issue. Any ideas on confiming my diagnosis? Or, do I just have to drive it until it fails again?
