engine swap
I just did an engine swap on my 02 Disco 2 4.0 v8. everything hooked up fine but i cant get it to turn over with the key. i tried the inertia switch, hoooking up a cable with a push button on it to the starter, it turned over that way. it wont come out of park either. is there something that has to be reset? possibly with the factory alarm system? any help would be greatly appreciated..............Bret
Well the most common reason it wouldn't come out of park on many cars is that the switch that turns the brake lights on is bad. Can you verify that your brake lights come on?
We probably need more details about the no start issue. Does it not crank (in other words, turn over) at all? Or does it crank (turn over) but not actually start and run? Any sounds? Clicking, etc? Any funny lights on on the dash like a solid red or blinking red LED?

the brake llights wont come on unless the key is turned on. and when the key is turned on i get a light that looks like two gears meshed together with an x through them and an audible alarm with it. it wont turn over at all when the key is turned but i do hear a series of clicks, but cant tell where they come from. in short im stuck in park and wont turn over........Bret
Transfer case in neutral = that light on. two gears meshed together with an x through them
