Engine Swap cost
Hello guys,
I just bought myself a 2003 Land Rover Discovery 2 with 210,000 miles approx. Found out the engine rear main seal was bad and there was metal shaving in the oil pan, didn't mind too much since I only spent $1,200 and will be a project car. The rest of the car is in great condition zero rust (Texas car). I ended up getting a used engine with 108,000 miles and a year warranty for $1800. The new engine arrived with all gaskets replaced and in mint condition. My question now is getting a mechanic to put it on. How much should it come out to? I got a quote from a mechanic at $1200 to swap the old one with the new one.

When they are done make sure and give the engine a really good once over. Make sure coil packs are attached, coolant pipes attached, all wiring in good condition.
Shops want to get the work done quickly, and may cut corners. Totally understandable, but just be aware.
I’d recommend a Land Rover specialist.
