AB doesn't sell the original grey color TD5 one, unless they started.

If you paid less than 75-80, its not the right one.

Spot on Dusty. Td5 being diesel runs hotter under load and has a much smaller engine.

Or even better still get a TD5 lump instead ............. less aggro all-round

OK... thanks Abran. Just a quick question then, where do I get the 180 t-stat? Will AB have it or do I need to get it elsewhere? I am going to have to return the 'soft spring' one I suppose. Thanks for the heads up

Isn't this the 180 degree thermostat? It has the correct part #PEL500110. This is from AB website:

So I received the180 t-stat and installed it today... did some running around town to check the temp on Ultra Gauge, here is where I am now:

idle at a lights: (old) 200 - 205 F (new) 189 - 194 F
Highway: (old) 196 F (new) 187 F
climbing the mountains in CS (30 mph): (old) 200 - 209 F (new) 189 - 196 F

I am hoping this will help extend the engine life a little more, as I know I am living on barrowed time... HG probably needs to be done shortly. As it has not been done to my knowledge yet and I currently have 152,000 mi. Very happy so far... thanks for the help.

Cheers!!
