Engine Whine and clicking
Wonder if the compressor is repairable! or see if anyone has one laying around.
Thanks

I have that exact same whine. I'm pretty sure it is the alternator but I have changed it three times and its still there. Going to take the serpentine off and grease all my puller bearings to see if that helps. My Water pump and Power steering pump were just replaced and I know it's not coming from there. The sound is high on the motor and strongest when the ear to metal trick is applied to the alternator.
I did just read a notice with the new alternator that a new serpentine with a tight tension pulley can create the whine in the alternator.

It sounds the same as Sayeed's problem but maybe not exactly the same bearing but a noisy bearing somewhere up front. Slacken off the serpentine belt and checkout each pulley for slackness and roughness when turned.
