Default Erratic heat blower temp

Seems on longer drives. Say over 45 mins, the heater starts to blow colder than when it starts off.

What is behind the temp change switches? Some black box which plays up? Engine temps are very normal. 194-197 most of the time. Odd 200-203.

Doesn't bother me, but if it is indicative of something which needs attention would rather hit it with a pre-emptive strike.

Do you have the HVAC set to "auto" or do you control the fan speed and blower output yourself? I might be off base here, but when it is set to auto, the default is to get the interior quickly to that temperature (high fan speed, max heat/cool) and once that interior temperature is reached, the fan slows down, and the heater or A/C output is diminished as it is no longer fully needed to stay within a few degrees of the desired temperature.

I have noticed this too, but have assumed that the air coming out of the vents doesn't need to be 90* when the interior temperature is only set for 70*.

Interesting thought.

Just had a play with it. I don't seem to be able to turn the word AUTO off. I am used to controlling the fan speed and temp manually. But it seems that has always been with the word AUtO in the middle of the display. Didn't have time to get the hand book out today.

Does anyone else get the word AUTO to turn off?

You're right. The Auto display never goes away. As you manually control the recirc, fan speed, and air distribution, the symbols move out of the Auto box to show they are no longer being controlled my the HVAC ECU for better term.
If you never leave the HVAC at full auto, it might well be a blend door problem.

Thanks Morph.

Only Rover could have a little box system with symbols either inside the box, or outside the box.

Pretty sure I'm always on manual. Going to monitor it over the next few days. Been reading about different temps coming out of different places. I've screen, dash, footwells. Going to study more before taking things to bits.
