Default Estimate cost to install 3" lift, and front drive shaft?

Just bought a 3" lift kit, and Tom Woods drive shaft. Was quoted $700 "best case" from my indy Rover shop to install it. Does this sound about right? I was thinking $300-$500. Unfortunately, I don't have a garage, and would end up doing the install in the street. For $700+, that buys a lot of tools, and a lot of beers for the weekend.

How tough is this install to do solo, knowing that I'll have to put the truck on stands, and feather the axles up and down with my floor jack?

Maybe the shop is including adding extended stainless steel brake lines? Just springs, shocks and propshaft? Or did you get new towers, spacers, seats, retainers and the whole works? I would say under 3 hours labor for experienced techs unless they are doing all those extras...

Atlantic British has a good video on exactly what to do.

I have a full 3" kit with extended brake lines, new TF towers, seats, sway bar links, and damper, plus the shaft..... I've watched that AB video a few times, and it looks doable, just a pain in the *** to knock the bolts loose, and replace the springs... I don't have the luxury of leaving my truck in the street, and spraying down the bolts daily.

I was thinking $95 an hour x 3 hours too, but who knows. Maybe I'll try to negotiate it down.

I just did new shocks and damper on all four corners and didn't have a single problem with any bolts. Not even on the towers. $700 still sounds high even with the full kit. Possibly they are billing for two techs at 3.5 hours each? I would ask for a detailed explanation.

Sounds good, and thanks for the info... I have an eager father in law who's garage and driveway I can borrow, so I may just go that route.

Good Luck! I did need a 24" breaker bar on the damper bolts and did spray down the drive shaft bolts last time I did that job.
