Default EVAP CODE 0455..

I know its been posted recently about the evap code 0455 major leak detected, but this is interesting. Ive had that dang light comming on and off for quite sometime now and today i picked up on soemthing. I did the stereo in the truck when i bought it (mb-quart throughout and 12in sub in rear) now for some reasoni turned the volume all the way down on the sub for about the last two weeks, after i checked the system for leaks with the smoker. I have filled the truck twice and have not had the lamp coem back on, which usually will after about 3 trips 20miles or so. Today i went back to blasting the music and crnked back up the sub, in a matter of minutes and stop light the lamp was back. Im curious if the pulses from the sub and fuel level, have an effect on the baro sensor on the tank. Im gonna turn the sub down again and see if it coems back. Mightlessen hearing loss as well.

What? I cant hear you!
It is very possible that the vibration from the bass is messing with your fuel tank.
Very interesting topic.

No, this was not the issue. There have been other people with this code and have had the same smoke tests done as i did to mine with no leaks found. What i did come across was someone on another site who tried using an evap purge solenoid from a hyundia. Well i tried it about 3 months ago and have not seem the lamp again. The scan tool showed that the evap moniters had been ran and were complete, which means the system is operating as it should. Recently i made the suggestion to another person on this site and i do not think he wrote back about what his next move was.

Smoke testing the system several times would have surely indicated a bad cap. Didnt hurt to throw one on but the purge solenoid fixed the mystery rite up for me..

I tried 2 different caps and still had the code. The last time I took it to the dealer they reset it and told me to drive around for the weekend. I took a chance and went to the emissions station.... surprisingly I passed only after driving 56mi. Even the readiness test passed. I went back to the dealer to test again and they stated that they didn't see any knew codes, but it wasn't "ready" yet and I should drive a little longer. Go figure...
