Evap purge valve clicking
Guys,
I had an evap fault that was preventing my truck from passing SMOG, so I determined after a lot of investigation that I needed to change the Evap Purge Valve. Per the advice of the forum members, I bought the Forman 911-800 from Autozone.
Now, the purge valve makes a clicking noise that I can hear from inside the truck while it is running. I looked under the hood while the motor was running and the sound seems to be coming from the purge valve itself. There was no clicking before, but I also had to disconnect a few hoses to get to the purge valve for removal and install. I know that the sensor is working at least well enough for the truck to have passed SMOG, so I don't think that the valve is defective, but I am not certain.
Any ideas? I am not CERTAIN that I am not dealing with a slipped sleeve, but the sound is coming from the valve area, when I touch the valve I can feel the clicking, and it just seems like too much of a coincidence that a slipped sleeve would start clicking the first ignition start after changing the purge valve.
Any ideas?

A working purge valve is supposed to click. If it is really loud inside the cab, check and make sure the hose that goes to the purge valve isn't sitting up against the firewall and tapping it.
