Default Exhaust leak at manifold.

I have developed an exhaust leak [:@]at the flange that connects to the manifold. The estimate for repair is $1,800 give or take[:@][:@][:@]. Seems a little bit expensive. Is this within normal pricing for this kind of fix? Can it be welded? Thanks! ...Bob

Mike, it is a 2001 Discovery ll SE and I think the flange broke completely off. It had a little leak that I could barely hear for about 6 months and then all of a sudden it sounded like it had no muffler at all. Thanks! ...Bob

So you have two choices, a new "Y" pipe or a repair at your lock muffler shop. Either way I would have the local muffler shop do the work.

Mike, I had it welded. It cost me $236 as opposed to $1,800 to replace the Y-pipe. They did a good job and it sounds great, I hope it lasts a while. Big savings. Thanks for your help. ...Bob
