Default "Extra" wires by transmission? 03 D2 M&S issue

Troubleshooting the notorious flashing M & S lights on the kids new D2 and have two wires down alongside the transmission, on the drivers side. One is black, one is black with green stripe. I cannot find any connector they belong to and search is coming up blank...

Are these just "spares" for a diagnostic or ??

Unused connectors for system(s) not installed on your D2.

Found the same when replacing my x,y,z switch.

Appreciate the reply!

Think I have located my culprit. Used a toothbrush and electrical contact cleaner and it cleaned up nicely. Need to grab some stainless bolts and nuts and get her sealed back up. Really, really hope this is it!

Hi

My 03 TD5 has the later type switch which is less complex internally albeit they look identical externally. When you've cleaned up the internals sufficiently pack it with oodles of Vaseline or petroleum jelly for waterproofing and lubrication. Almost as importantly if you have A/C then extend the drain tube down and away by 6" which I seem to recall you need 8mm tube. This is to direct it away from discharging onto the XYX switch and it's wiring loom. Good luck as it's a dirty fiidly job removing and refitting it.

PS: I forgot to adress the additional wiring, there are lots of additional plugs and wires underneath which go nowhere. They are for options or maybe used on other models also. Don't worry yourself about them as if they apparently don't fit anywhere it's not unusual.
