Faking out the sai
So I thought I would go down to advance auto and get a wired trouble light or something else and hard wire it to the sai plug. My thought is that it might cause the ecu to detect a load and therefore not throw a code. Or am I all wet?
I have a 2003-2004 ecu, bcu, and cluster combo if anyone is looking to get rid of SAI on their truck. You would just need to get your key fob remote reprogrammed.
No need to get a trouble light. Just wire a resistor and a diode (LED would work) in line. Probably a little cheaper and can be out in a more compact package.
However, that may not create enough draw to hit the threshold for the computer if it's looking for such a thing, unless it is simply looking for a completed circuit. You could, on the other hand, get a 12v hobby motor and stick it in there. That may create enough draw and still take up little little space compared to the big SAI motor.

From my reading of the RAVE Manual, the ECU will use readings from the O2 sensors during cold start to determine if the SAI system is working. Regardless of how you spoof the other codes, you'll keep getting a CEL from that alone.
Yep “some” 03-04’s are non SAI! I’d just get a non SAI ECU & go from there. I’m not 100% certain, but I’ve also heard that a system like the Autologic can make changes to the ECU & if SAI is an option it could be turned off. Just haven’t had a big chance to piddle with the 10k Autologic system to know for sure what it can/can’t do.
