brooksa- ok first of all, what does the last sentence of the main post say? it says " Yes, so there are some bad things about your father having a Land Rover shop after all... ". The point of this thread was to prove that there are many problems with your dad having a LR shop. Selling parts off of your truck is one of them, but all I ever hear is "wow your dad has a LR shop, OMG your so lucky". Yes I am, but im just sharing with everybody that there are some bad things. So sorry if I wasted your time.

okdiscoguy- Thanks

tee51397- Thanks for your time and the support.

Although I feel your pain, your story is typical for a teen. Until you turn 18, move out of your parents home and buy your own stuff, your parents are always going to have the last say. I would learn to sacrafice if I were you, otherwise you're always going to see life as unfair. I'm going to have to side with Dad on this one.

If you play your cards right, you could make out pretty well by the time you're on your own. Just a thought. I wish my father owned a LR shop. You can't beat parts at cost plus tax.

Btw, with the truck in your fathers name, the insurance will be lower. If I had a teen, I would put the truck in my name to keep him/her from doing what they wanted with the car - like sell it for concert tickets, spring break money or to settle a drug debt (just saying).

HoustonDM, Maybe I should just pass on this, since you don't seem to like people disagreeing with you, but you're the one asking people to read about your problem. Now, if you just sit back and read without feeling like people are attacking you, you might learn a thing or two.

First of all.....It's not your fault, you're a teenager. Testosterone is what is leading you. Wether you'll admit it or not, believe me you are stupid and think you know it all and everything that goes against your will just isn't fair and everybody else's fault. But it's normal you're a teenager and that's what teenagers are. This statement might have you go up the wall and you aremost likelyinsulted by it and I appologize. But it's a fact and you'll only realise it in some 10-15 years when you look back on all this.

Your parents way of punishing you is very smart parenting. Hit them where it hurts. It sure beats the not so ancient way of doing things, where that statement could be taken litterally and it left marks and scars.

I'm 42 and have teenagers of my own. Although we're blessed with a top grade serious gorgeous daughter, I see tons of young roosters hanging around and darn they're stupid. Some of them are smarter than others, but the lack of experience is obvious on all of them. Don't get me wrong, I was probably the stupidest of them all.....I was drafted in the NHL and didn't go because of a girlfriend[8D]I remember my father having to call a camping ground for me to go back home because it was Tuesday and my foreman was looking for me because it was my 2nd day missing[&o]So rangers came to tell me that if I didn't head home right away, I'd most likely would not live another day. Lucky me that foreman was my cousin and he didn't fire me.

So you realise that you are a teen, and you're parent realise that you are a teen. And even if you think you know it all, they are not done raising you and teaching you good values.

When all is said and done, I still think you are very lucky that you're dad owns a Rover shop.

You didn't waist my time, since if you did I just would have past on this post. I just thought that you were actually worth my time and needed some more feedback.

Don'tlet anyone make yougrow up too fast, but try to do it as intelligently as possible

Well said Darover, pretty much right on target. I was told long time ago that men are all idiots until 30, didn't understand then but now I do.

BAD thing about your father having a Land Rover Garage...

ok, So anyway a couple of weeks ago was spring break for my area. I had no money, but I talked my parents into giving me $500, But they wouldn't let me drive my Disco, they did say I could drive their 1982 Mercedes 300D or nothing. So I drove that, cause it gets about 30 MPG, so I was happy. So anyway, I went with my GF's family to Destin, Florida and on wednesday night, her mother and I got into an arguement. So i said I was just going go home tomorrow morning, so I pack up the next morning and was on my way. I got to thinking, wow this is the worst spring break ever. I could take a left here and go home OR KEEP GOING THIS WAY AND STAY WITH MY FRIENDS IN PANAMA CITY BEACH, FLORIDA and follow them back Saturday... Being 17, which one do you think I chose??....

That's right, go to PC the biggest Spring break hot spot in the world. Oh my parents were not very happy. But I was good while I was down there, I got my car towed once, and other than that everything was fine. So I got back saturday night and my DISCO is not in the driveway, They told me "it was at the shop, cause It needed a window Regulator for my drivers window ( which was true, they did put a new one of those in ), but it doesn't matter cause your grounded for what you did on spring break, so no land rover for a week". Is pretty much what they said...

~~~THE GOOD PART~~~
So I call my dad when im aloud to pick it up, and he tells me a new customer came today and he needed some work done and that my dad had all the parts in stock, except an Air Mass Meter ( Which they just installed on my truck the day before I left for Spring Break ). So of course my dad says he can order it and have it next day, or he can take the one off of mine. So the guy has no problem with taking mine [:@]. So my dad takes it off of my truck and put it on his...
~~~OH IT GETS BETTER~~~

So i said, "ok thats fine, so you can put one back on my truck within the next couple of days, right??". His response "Well lets see you owe your mother and I $500 for Spring Break, So when you get $500 and pay us back. Until then your truck is going to sit right here, and don't talk back or ill just sell the whole Damn thing"...

Yes, so there are some bad things about your father having a Land Rover shop after all... [:@]

Good for your Dad, I would have done the same to you along with having you pay for all the repairs he did on your truck.
Sounds like you may need a few more life lessons like this if you are ever going to become responsible for yourself.
If you can not afford to pay for your repairs and up keep, sounds like the truck eith should be stored for you or sold till you quit depending on your parents.
Make sure you tell you Dad, I am on his side.
