Definitely doing gears first. Would axles definitely be required first just for street driving or just for off roading? She is mostly a daily driver, but this is working her way up to a full time off roader.

I do plan on keeping the same housing, I was just wondering if the ring and pinion were cross compatible.
We recommend upgraded axles on anything over 33". Unless you plan on accelerating slowly at 5mph every mile and never climb any hills, then you should be ok.

The R&P being cross compatible point is moot since you will need a much different ratio for the 37s anyways.

I'm fine with driving her easily until could afford axles. Hell, cant afford any of it right now. Just spit balling really.

I'm just thinking if I could find an aftermarket ring and pinion cheaper for a Defender/P38/D1/RRC then that would be a great option. Actually, I already have, so I'm just checking.

No need to go that low. Going from 32s to 37s is approx a 15.7% increase and going from 3.56s to 4.11s is just a hair over 15.4% difference, plenty close enough. The only change in engine/trans/transfer case/driveshaft stress at that point (other than that .3%) will be the weight of wheel/tire and the offset.

It's on eBay shipped from the UK. Prorally nor super high quality, but this is a tight budget build and... I kinda like testing the limits of cheap parts for ****s and giggles.
