im about to pressure test the engine block

what PSI should i be putting into the block?

operational pressure is less than 20 psi, so try 40 psi, guessing it should be hard to find something pressure washed that number 5 piston.

What he said ^^ above. Should show itself pretty quickly.

Some say 30-35, but since most can only do a cold test it may need more to reveal any cracks? and maybe not?

I tested mine to 60 haha! I was afraid a freeze plug was going to shoot out and I wouldn't recommend going that high.

I wouldn't get too crazy with it since you may cause a leak that you didn't have already like at a freeze plug or the thin a** defective walls behind a liner.

Go with 30-40 and see what you get.

and unless you have a welded up block off water pump to let each side pressurize together then you will need to test each side separately. In your case you may only have to test that one side and if it passes then test the other side.

I got the block pressure tested and here is what I found

on the left side, the side with the steamed cleaned cylinder, I did not find any cracks

here is what I did, and what I found
  • Cold Test
  • LHS
  • held 40 psi for 10 mins
  • got up to 60 psi
  • held 60 psi for 5 mins

Did you mist soapy water around the the tops of the liners and on insides of liner walls and around your plates to see where you are loosing the pressure?

Yes, once I got the plates I made sealed off I wasn't seeing any bubbles any where else.

is it possible that the heads were causing the problem?

Man... I don't know, aren't you loosing pressure? I mean I know it's not gonna hold pressure overnight because of the plates but if you're loosing pressure in 10 minutes wondering where it's going?

no it wasnt loosing pressure, it held the pressure until I let it out
