Default Firewall Passthough

I've read about an unused 1" hole (with grommet) located behind/underneath the glove box that can be used as a firewall pass-though, I've looked and looked and can't find the darn thing. Am I making this up in my head? If you've found it let me know and can you tell me specifically where it is?

On the ride side of the passenger footwell near your floor mat you have your ECU. Put your hand on the back of that ECU so taht you can feel or see the huge wiring loom that goes into that ECU.

That wiring loom goes straight from your ECU through the grommet hole in the firewall, so just follow the wires for about 2 feet to see the hole that you want to use.

Easy.

That hole is also visible with the hood up looking at the passenger side of the firewall where the wiring loom passes through.

Thanks, I’ll check it out again today (I’ve got little else to do with a stay at home order in place!) and get back to you if I do or do not find it.

Under fuse box drivers side nice big one. Ran my oil wire through there today. Can’t miss it

Thanks, I’m looking to run a battery cable through so that might add too much length, but it’s good to know that one is there for other projects!

Ok, while I didn’t find what I had envisioned in my head I did find an oval shaped grommet along the passenger side kind of up and behind the BCU. It only had wires running through the lower portion so I was able to punch a hole in the upper portion and run my cable. Thanks for all of your input!

What is the purpose of the battery cable going into the passenger compartment?

I’m doing a dual battery setup with an isolator. My “house” battery is going to be located in the back for right now, might switch it to the front to save some space if I can ever get a dual tray fabricated, but honestly space isn’t that crucial of a factor for my setup so I might just keep the battery in back.
