First day with Disco II - meet the Three Amigos
Hello all,
I flew to TX yesterday to pick up a cherry '03 Discovery with about 64K on the odometer. I love it. I drove it directly to a detail shop, where they removed the wheels to clean them as part of the service. I mention this because I never saw the Three Amigos until after it was detailed (not on test drive or drive to detail shop). I am curious if anyone thinks that removing the wheels for cleaning could have done something to agitate the Three Amigos?
Also, is there anyone in the greater Denver area with the Three Amigo code reader tool?
All in all, I am pleased to be a part of the community and look forward to building a relationship with my new Disco (so far unnamed) and fellow owners!
Here's a snap!

It really could be a number of things, but without knowing the history of the car it would be hard to pin point without the codes, which is part of your request. Do you know if it has had all of the recalls taken care of? To find out give the local LR dealer a call and they will want the know the VIN, which they will use to look it up. If you do need to take it in for the recalls then explain your story and sweet talk the lady attendant into reading the codes for you. Its worth a shot. Once you get the code readings there are a number of issues that could cause this, but the leading one in the posts seem to be:
1. Faulty shuttle valve in ABS modulator
2. One or more of the ABS speed sensors damaged (located on each wheel)
If the detail shop removed the tires and sprayed the axle with some corrosive products then this could have damaged the ABS speed sensors. If they used a less harmful chemical then the sensors may just need to be rinsed off. If they used a pressure washer and got too close then it...see this can go on a while so get the codes and then you;ll have a better idea.
If it does turn out to be a bad shuttle valve then go to this thread. I used it to replace mine. The indie shop wanted $900 and I did it for $70 thanks to this link:

If you haven't already then find the link on this site to the rave manual. If will be useful.

Hello! Well, no more of the Amigos today. Perhaps it was moisture related? Tomorrow I will be driving back to Colorado from Texas - they will have plenty of time to stop by
Thank you all for the input, and I will be sending some PMs too. Cheers!

Adios amigos!!!
I performed Josh's Option B fix found at http://www.landroverclubvi.com/abs-mod.html and I believe they are gone. Granted, I will give it more time, but as frequently as I was seeing them (every day) I am feeling pretty good about it. Kudos to Josh for the great write-up, and to Disco Mike for coming by to tinker with me.
