Default First projects...Rear brakes and battery (help needed)

Alright, I've got my first two projects for my 03 Discovery SE7. My rear rotors have about 25% left according to a local foreign car place and my battery is on it's way out. I took it there for a second opinion just to make sure all was in order.

Now I've never worked on a car before an need some guidance as to what to do here. A neighbor has a hydraulic jack and I have my first set of tools en-route.

So where should I start? How do I know the rotors need to be replaced? I'm not too concerned about the battery. Learning how to replace it wouldn't be a bad idea.

I will be replacing the front draft at some point and will change the oil, but I still have a long way until I need to do so.

Any advice would be appreciated, thanks!

If you have never worked on a car before I highly recommend having someone help you with the brakes. That is one area of the car that needs to be 100% correct when done.

FYI, the rear pads on a D2 are the same as a front pad for an 88-91 BMW 325i.

Yeah I'll most certainly get help with the breaks.

How's this kit?

Any suggestions on a good battery to get?

Go to AutoZone and get a Duralast Gold battery.
They are rated as one of the best batteries to buy and are made in Michigan by Johnson Controls.
The one for our trucks is also 1000CCA and sells for under $100.

when you disconnect the battery,
remove the negative side first and connect it last, this will prevent you from welding a new wrench to the surrounding metal

For brakes, contact Will Tillery for a nice inexpensive brake kit and fast delivery. Best deal available.

Not every one knows who he is or how to get ahold of him.
