Question What is it called?

Yes, I have a 97' land rover discovery, and I would like to know what is the name of the part in the picture, and what functions does it have, and also the fuel temperature sensor. I would really appreciated if you can response as soon as possible. Thanks

The problem that I experiencing is when I start the truck it begins to tremble as if it wants to stay on and a little bit of smoke but as soon as I release the gas the truck will turn off. I believe that is not burning the fuel right, but i want to know if it could be something else that I have not thought of.
or this 2 sensors the one in the picture or the fuel temperature sensor

Pull that black cover off that's screwed to the fender to the left in your picture, I believe that's your ECU (computor)

It belongs under the cover.

What color is the smoke?
What have you tried so far?
When was the last time the truck had a tune up?
Is the check engine light on and if so have you had the codes read yet?

A bad fuel temp sensor can cause a hard to start when hot issue or a stalling while hot and in gear issue.
Not running at idle could be any number of things, like the idle air control valve or really dirty spark plugs.

I just changed spark plugs (bosch) three weeks ago and had an oil change. Let me explain to you better when I take off about 30mph it runs smoothly but as soon I get to a complete stop it starts trembling releasing gray smoke and after of couple of seconds it turns off. The check engine light is not on because I was changing the alternator and I needed to disconnected the battery so I reset it, but before like 2 weeks ago I got 2 codes one for oxygen sensors, and the other one for the fuel temperature sensor. Could it be one of those two? I haven't replace them but it wasn't doing that before I change the alternator.
