One of the D post finishers has come loose and needs to be replaced.
There are plastic fittings on the back side of the finisher that attach to the flat square silver posts that you can see in the photo.
In order to fit the finisher onto those little posts, it looks like I will have to unscrew the posts from the inside, place the fittings on the finisher over them, and then retighten from the inside.
To do this, it looks like I will need to remove the large interior molding piece in the cargo area that fits around the rear side window.
Does this sound right? Your thoughts are appreciated.
Yes, take off the interior piece. And then the bolts are behind round waterproofing “decals” black circles that you have to remove Technically, you should replace those (I’ve ordered them, they’re available in the parts catalogue, they come in a few sizes). May not matter really .
I just replaced my passenger side. If the nuts come off easy then your set. If they are rusted/seized then you'll need to replace. I had the bottom one come through the hole. I had to hammer it back in shape but was still bored out a little. What you will need is some M4 flange nuts/serrated and I also bought M4 15mm O.D. washers. These washers are bigger than everything I found in big box stores. Took some JB Weld to attach the washers to the nuts. Worked perfect!! The new part I picked up on Ebay. The width was a touch smaller than OEM but did cover. It did not come with new washer/nut combo. It had new studs. Good Luck
