Default Flexible coupling.

Planning on changing out the flexible coupling. Noticed some pretty bad cracks while doing other maintenance. Have seen some say that the coupling has to be installed facing a certain way or it could wear out prematurely. The rave doesn't mention it. Just says make sure the bolts are shooting the correct way.

There should be little arrows molded into it and if I recall the bolts face with the arrows. I did a slightly larger bmw coupling. Didn't fix my driveshaft vibes, but it is a little thicker. No idea how it will last because it's only been 500-1,000 miles.

I actually used hose clamp and a washer to replace a missing weight on the rear shaft and when that didn't work I removed the washer and left the clamp thinking I'll try a bigger washer later. I guess the hose clamp was enough to almost remove all driveshaft vibes!

I'm cheap and the risk was pretty low for that price. I figured under $50 and it's a little thicker... Hey, might be worth it!

Meyle is a much better brand and only a few dollars more for their HD version. And if you buy it here there is a lifetime guarantee so it will be the last one you ever have to buy if it fails.

The arrow on the flex coupling points to the flange you are bolting it to, and the bolt itself follows the direction of the arrow, with the nut on the other side of the flange.

Oddly, those two pics are contradictory. The one on the right is correct.

How hard should it be to compress and extend the driveshaft. I was putting my whole body into it to compress it. Then the same extending it plus I bent the jack handle it was so stiff. Anyone else have this problem?

The spline should slide pretty easily. Could yours be bent?

I couldn't tell by looking at it when I was working down there. It does have a slight vibration accelerating from like 30-60 ish. Any other way to tell?
