Default Foam strip for ventilation air intake

For those of you who have replaced or installed a foam strip over the ventilation air intakes on these trucks, what have you used other than the dealer foam-which is very expensive. I need to replace mine but would like to know what aftermarket foam/insulation has worked.

I'm guessing you are talking about the vent in between the windscreen and the hood?

If so, I used portable A/C unit filters that you can get at most hardware stores, just cut it into strips to fit.

Default foam strip

Hello from Scotland.
In the UK there is a TV sales channel QVC, which I think is in the USA also.
Whenever they post purchases in the UK they all have foam packing strips for protection inside. Each strip is 6"long by 1" square and fit perfectly inside the intake.I used them in my Discovery 1 and they are super.Ask among friends who buys from QVC and get the strips.Hope this helps.Best part is they will be FREE.

cheers

I had done a write up on this a couple of years ago.

Before.

What to buy at Home Depot.

Cut to size.

Staple together.

Done.

Thanks for the tips, I figure we really need it when we are on dusty roads or when wheeling, some filter is better than nothing.

Ref Discovery 2 - Foam strip for ventilation air intake (replacement)

My foam had all but crumbled away, and non of the local air conditioning providers could help, let alone the Land Rover dealers!!!

I found that dish washing scouring pads (green things) available from supermarkets work a treat. Simply cut to size and slot in. Cost? AUS$1.15.
And all but indestructible.

Job done!

Not expensive at all. Just order this one and install. Takes about 3-5 minutes. Done.

Replace it soon. It will get sucked into your blower motor.
