fog lights.
I have a 97 series 1 disco. I just want to know where's the safest place to drill a hole in the firewall in order for me to wire up the switch for my aftermarket fog lights?
Thanks for the advice. Yes, I'm planning to use the factory installed rear fog light switch(I'll be putting a relay) instead of using the aftermarket switch that came with the fog lights. I heard it was doable. Any tips or precautions that I should be aware of?
Get yourself a factory front fog light switch and install it down by the cruise master switch. That's where the factory fog light switch goes. You really don't want your rear fog lights coming on every time you want your front fog lights on. The picture shows my switches; driving lights, fog lights and cruise - left to right.
Even if you don't have factory fogs, the wiring is still there, behind the switches, tucked away. The connections are already by the headlights. Just wire your lights into there, plug in the switch, and pop a relay in the harness behind the drivers kick panel...
Boom factory lights.
Boom factory lights.
OK - i found the right fog lamp wire attached to the frame below the front right headlamp. On the left side that area is obscured by the washer bottle. I noticed there are two vacant plugs in the left headlamp opening, one is exposed and looks like (-.-), the other has a jumper wire in it. Any idea which one is for the left foglamp? I could put a tester on it but haven't had the shop turn on the code for it yet. Also have to trim the switch to get it to work in the middle of the binnacle. Any guidance here is much appreciated. 2002 D2 SD
