With all the coolant flushing I have been doing the dye will make it easier to find what is the leak and what is left over. I will order some and get back to you guys when I finish.

I get that junk from pep boys. the have always had it in stock

 

Tracerline TP3900-0601 is the dye I use.

 

Have you checked the coolant tube coming off the intake manifold. It's literally right in front of the manifold and runs under the alternator. If it's leaking enough, it could manifest as a coolant pump leak.

 

That is a pretty common spot for a timlng chain cover to leak, it sprays up under the AC compressor. Go with the pressure tester.

I tested for combustion gases this morning and didn't find anything. Although the coolant level rose during the test so I had to turn off the car around 170 degrees as coolant was being sucked into the tester instead of air. Is this common?

Something is leaking from the back of the engine onto the passenger side cat and burning off. It doesn't smell like coolant but I do not appear to be losing oil. There is a bunch of sludge back there but it is hard to tell if it is oil or coolant - no smell. As well, I slid some cardboard under the car. Came back 2 hours after driving home from work, dry as a bone. Came back the next day, nice wet spot under the passenger cat.

I will get the dye today and pressure test and get back to you. I was just wondering your opinions on what I have found so far. I would like to get away with not changing the head gaskets until Spring time and have some driving to do in the mean time. So here's hoping...
