I’d like to see pics too. I’m not surprised at all that it can be addressed, however 4hrs is not a lot of time based on the severity of the photos.

Oh I'm quite aware that I have a rusty frame and that additional work will be required in the future to keep her on the road (ie; more frame repair, 1/2 frame swap or full swap). I took her in to have the suspension area fixed and I have complete faith in this company as they've been around for years and do great work on what I've given them in the past. A friend of mine told me that they repair frames on large trucks all of the time so, I'm assuming (key word here) that, they have the equipment to cut out large pieces fast. Either that or they patched it - I don't know. I'll be sure to post photos when I get her back as I'm picking her up soon.

Thanks CollieRover and jKid!!!!

Glad you got it sorted my brother went through this a month ago with his 90 jeep, cut a frame section out and had it replaced but jeep has a kit. In your case they likely just cleaned it up and welded a wrapped reinforcement plate back to good metal.

She's home

Here's a photo of the patch:

It's been over a year since I've driven her more than 2 miles. I was excited today but didn't know what to expect seeing as it has been so long what with the oil pump/front cover fiasco last summer/fall and then not starting this spring. I guess there's a silver lining with every cloud and it's a good thing that she didn't start in April as I would have been, unknowingly, driving her with a horribly weakened suspension/frame joint if I hadn't taken her to a shop. Just another reason why we should all crawl underneath our Rovers and be proactive boys and girls. Maybe don't do it in your white jammies like I did tonight, haha. (as if any of you need a reminder to be proactive...)

The brake light is on and the braking system was squishy and I smelled brakes when I got home so that's not good. Going to tackle that next and work on a few other things (driver side window won't go down), and I need to get the transfer case resealed.

I haven't ruled out the frame swap - it's good to know that it's available. The guys at the welding place said that they had seen worse and said that mine was a fairly easy job. I picked up my cast iron settee that's been sitting in their pole barn (already paid for) for the past six months Killed 2 birds with one stone.

Anyway, thought I'd follow up and post the photo like I said I would. Thanks for dealing with my melodrama and giving me advice - I can get pretty worked up when it comes to Bertha. I'm a sentimental sap.

That color truck is super rare, I would like to see more pictures. Given your love for the truck, I would set about finding someone to POR-15 the whole frame.

Is it?... It's called Oslo Blue - I've always liked it. I'll take some more photos this week and post them up. She has clear coat issues on the top - not quite sure what I'm going to do there - wrap it or have it repainted. Yeah, I should look into having the underbody treated - I asked around a few years ago and was lambasted by family and friends for wanting to do that. Hindsight is 20/20.

haha - thanks CollieRover - I've nicknamed her 'Bertha - the little engine that could'
