Yikes. If you want a new front drive shaft, you want one that is fully serviceable, which OE spec shafts are not. And that price is outrageous. I bought my driveshaft from lr2001silver, who on this forum and it's a great product. Only $300 delivered. Or you can take a look at Tom Woods. He makes a godd product i hear. Quoted me $400 though.

Another good option is to rebuild the joints. A couple hours and some quality parts later and you will only have spent a 1/4 of what those options cost. Unless the shaft is already damaged I dont understand why more people dont just rebuild the shaft.

Dont waste your money with a OE spec driveshaft. The OE spec/Genuine front driveshaft is not serviceable and is notorious for failure on our Disco's! Consequence could be a hole in the transmission and a fatal accident! Do your research and invest in a aftermarket fully serviceable driveshaft. They range from $300-400.

I rebuilt mine. It was a pain. For some people they come apart and go together fine. Others have issues. I had issues getting the centering bearing to come out. We had to weld a bolt to it and then use a slide hammer. If I had it to do over again, I'd buy one. I may get one anyway, since I've got a lift now. Then I can use the one I rebuilt as a spare.

Are you going to lift the truck? If not, rebuild yours, it's easy for a shade tree mechanic. If your going to lift it, go with the Tom Woods, Lucky8 has them for under 400...

Yes it was a pain, I had more of an issue getting it back together with out dropping needle bearings. To me it was worth saving the money. A driveline shop is another option on the rebuild but, your getting closer to the cost of just getting new.
