Here's some info, though. These had "AllMakes4x4" stickers on the boxes. I know a few of the aftermarket vendors over here (like Miami British, etc.) carry a number of AllMakes4x4 parts. See if they don't have the GKN/Hardy Spicer UJs available over here under that aftermarket parts line...I'm sure it's much cheaper when they have a larger shipment of parts from AllMakes4x4 coming over from the UK than it is to air ship two small parts.

Again, overall, I'm pleased with the quality and delivery time.
Good deal! Thanks for the follow up. I don't know if it's my computer or what but, when I go to the site you bought from, the pictures don't show up, just a placeholder ???

Anyway I checked at MiamiBritish site before and they had what looked like GKN HD with the silver metal seal caps (3 for $95), but in their pictures the UJ's did not have GKN cast into them.
Their regular duty GKN's has GKN cast in the UJ's in the pictures (3 for $48 from MB on ebay and free shipping I think).. I don't know what the deal is with that. I guess I would have to call them. I have dealt with them before with no problems. They have good prices on some parts and not so good on others like everybody I guess.

I wouldn't care if they were in AllMakes stickered boxes if GKN on the UJ's. Same thing.

Hey thanks, yeah I have enough moog 344 UJ and 617 CB to do one shaft but, was looking around for the best price on the GKN Heavy Duty TVC100010G U-joints.

Right now I'm wondering if maybe I should be stocking up on rice, beans and hazmat suits instead of rover parts.... although a hazmat suit and beans don't sound like a good combination.

I wouldn't care if they were in AllMakes stickered boxes if GKN on the UJ's. Same thing.
First, the UJs WERE in a GKN box, they just had an additional "AllMakes4x4 Parts" inventory sticker on them.

Now as for the HD UJs, I believe these are actually made by Hardy Spicer in Australia. Hardy Spicer is a wholly-owned division of GKN. This MAY be why these do not have "GKN" cast into them.

Yep, gotcha... that's what I said "Allmakes stickered boxes".

It may have come across wrong but I knew what you were saying...GKN box with an Allmakes sticker on it. That would be the same part as if it didn't have the allmakes sticker. Allmakes just buys tons of stuff from different companies and slaps their sticker on it. Same part.

I know that Hardy Spicer are top of the line good u-joints, the real ones.

As far as GKN, GKN Driveline, Spicer and Hardy Spicer, I lost track with all of that back when they started buying each other out and merging with each other and all. Now I think the original Hardy Spicer (Australia) has bought their name back and are making driveline parts under that name again.

I see some vendors advertising GKN Regular Duty as GKN Heavy Duty on ebay and the ones they are selling are made in Japan. (below)

Land Rover Range Rover P38 GKN Prop Shaft Heavy Duty Universal Joint TVC100010 | eBay

and Miami British has the 3 packs of GKN regular duty for $48 that do have GKN on the u-joints but may be the made in Japan version also. (below) Anyway, I think some of the newer GKN are made in Japan but still that's leaps and bounds better then made in China.

Land Rover Universal Joint Propshaft Set Discovery Range Defender TVC100010 GKN | eBay

Anyway I just wanted to clear that up so if you thought I was knocking the u-joints you bought...that was not my intention.

For me, I have just been looking around for the best price on the GKN Heavy Duty TVC100010D that are the real HD ones with the silver metal caps.

There are companies in China making knockoffs that look the same but have poor casings and cheap bearings in them and some vendors on ebay and around are passing them off as genuine using the genuine LR part number.

Anyway, there are so many sellers on ebay and around that try to mislead buyers advertising the Regular Duty joints as the Heavy Duty joints and such that I just have to stay on my toes when ordering anything.

No "knock" taken, just wanted to clarify the UJs are, indeed, genuine GKN and in GKN boxes, but yes, made in Japan. Miami British often lists the supplier as "AllMakes", even if they are the OE supplier and sold through AllMakes4x4; had I known for sure that the "AllMakes" standard UJs were, indeed, GKNs, I would've bought from Miami British and saved the $$$.

I think GKN is getting most of their parts made in Japan now, except maybe the Hardy Spicer stuff, which may or may not be made in Australia. The Japanese made parts are equal or superior to US or UK made parts. Frankly, I was going to go with GMB (another Japanese company) through Pep Boys if I wasn't able to get the GKNs. I'm with you on the Chinese stuff, but even their quality is now starting to be world-class, as more and more OEMs are setting up shop or sourcing from China, Korea, Taiwan, Vietnam, etc.

Ask Dingocroft; I'm sure their HD UJs are Hardy Spicer. If I was going to replace all my UJs, I would've gone with the HDs, but as I rarely go off-road and I really just want greasable UJs in the double cardan joint, the standard UJs should do fine for me.
