I acquired a used front cover for my block replacement project. I have an 03 with the dreaded knock so this is why im replacing the block. The block did not come with the front cover so i had to get one somewhere else. I do not have my engine out of the truck yet so Im unsure of the condition of the cover that is in here now. The "new" to me cover has some light scratches on the inside where the pump gears go and on the plate that secures the gears in place. How do I know what is acceptable as far as the scratches go? They are nowhere near gouges and can barely be felt with the finger nail. They are worse on the securing plate. Thanks

The specs are in rave. Check and measure according to the rave specs.

 

i would like to get a picture of a new one on the inside as well....before i buy another one...

 

Did you check your oil pressure before condeming the engine? Why buy a used cover when you can just replace the pump gears?
