Default Front passenger seat does not recline

So my '03 disco's front passenger seat will not recline, but it will angle forward. The whole seat will move forward and back, but just will angle forward and not recline.

Any clues?

Coult be something stuck in the tract or could be a bad motor or a bad switch. Look under the seat while working the switch and see if you can here the motor running. You might even have to remove the seat to make sure a penny or something else is not lodged.

Sure thing...but I hope I explained my problem well enough to the readers....

The WHOLE seat can move front to back on the tracks, just the recline thing works in one direction; only forward and not recline. So I'm having a hard time connecting the dots on your suggestion. I don't see how the seat tracks affect the recline or lack there of?

There are 3 motors that control everything. All controlled by the two switches. If the switch is bad it can still move in one direction but not the other. Also those motors move the gears that move the seats. Sometimes something gets stuck in them which can prevent the seat moving in certain directions. Also make sure all your wiring harnesses are plugged in all the way.

Which motor controls the front and back motion on the passenger side? Mine stopped working today.

To Ralph:

Nicely laid out. I'll see what I can do and report back in the next few days.

I believe in the photo I posted earlier that #3 moves the seat back, #2 moves the seat forward, #1 is the horizontal movement.

There are also relays and fuses under the seat. So those would be good to check as well.

Don't ask me how, but the blessed thing just started to work again. Didn't trouble shoot or check for lodged particles likes coins and such. Just got in the Landy, fired it up and pressed the recline button and she obliged.
