Does the Passenger airbag turn off if there is no one in the front seat?

Couln't find that listed anywhere in the documentation... I know many cars do this...

2003 Discovery SE...

Yep, but they don't have 1960s engines!!

Actually it would be great if there was a weight sensor, but I'm pretty sure there isn't.

There is no kill switch for the passangers air bag, why are you concerned about this especially if no one is in the seat?

I have a friend (who has kids) who asked about it... She's looking for an SUV and is considering a Discovery II... She asked because she has a daugfhter who is 8, who is old enough to sit up front, but under the weight requirements for an airbag... The ability to turn off the passenger airbag is important--whether it be by either a weight sensor or by a key, etc...
