Default front passenger window

right front passenger on my 2001 discovery II will only roll up with help from a second person. It makes a buzzing noise when trying to roll up and sometime when rolling down it continues to roll down after window button is released. Does this sound like window motor or regulator? Can both jobs be accomplished without taking to a shop? Thank you in advance.

I would suspect that the regulator is not working right. You may not know exactly until you take the door panel off and see what's going on. I had a regulator get froze up one time...I thought it was the motor, but motor was fine...the gear mechanism on the regulator broke on mine and that was what was "froze".

Yes, both/either job(s) can be accomplished without taking to shop.
I move slow and it took my 45 minutes to replace my regulator.
But as was mentioned, you won't really know until you take the door panel off
and, in some cases, remove the regulator/motor assembly for closer inspection.
